As I was browsing some internet columns to look for blog topics, I came across something that I actually thought was kind of interesting. It was a yahoo.com piece that gave 10 tips for someone who wants to be successful in business, as far as communication and behavior skills. I am in a business behavior class now, and it is very helpful to know tips about how to act in the workplace.
The two tips that I thought were the most important were numbers 2 and 8. Number 2 talks strictly about the dialogue that should go on two people in a business like manner. Two should establish common gorund and feed off that, as it is very pleasant. It is also interesting for both, and it most likely can not lead to argument. This will keep things appropriate during a meeting. The other tip is to avoid political talks. THe article clearly recognizes that nobody has the exact same political beliefs, so why venture itno grounds that can lead to an uncomfortable setting. Steering clear of politics will enable the conversation to stay professional in that the parties can maintain good composure.
