spartan coffee drinkers

I recently read an article that stuck with me, as I thought it was worth people knowing about. People say coffee is good, and people say that coffee is bad. I hear things like, "It stains your teeth, and it clogs arteries." I have also heard things like it can be linked to preventing certain types of cancer and diabetes. This article puts to rest myths and rumors. I see hundreds of students at our University drinking coffee everyday, and I want to let them know that it is not bad for you. Drink up! In this article, it talks about, "warding off type II diabetes and may even fight off cancer." This is great news, not to mention coffee helps people stay alert for studying or exams. It does say, however, that it may lead to leukemia in the worst case. Also, pregnant women should not drink too much coffee. So i just wanted to let al of my fellow students, who all work hard at school, to feel free to drink as much coffee as they need. The benefits of it definitely outweigh the neatives of coffee drinking.

rich dad poor dad

If you have not read the book, Rich Dad Poor Dad, you need to read it sometime. It is said to be one of the first financial books that business students should read, as it contains very unique ideas, yet basic principles. The unique ideas and brilliant theories come from the author's, Robert Kiyosaki, personal experiences in life. The basic principles are such things as limiting liabilities and increasing assets. If you do not know a lot about how money works or how money can work for you, then this is the perfect book to start out with. I did not know a lot when i read it a couple years ago, but now I look at the my shares in the stock market everyday, and am always browsing the financial section of bookstores whenever I am around. Rich Dad Poor Dad is not a book that just has a bunch of boring writing about how money works. Kiyosaki has found a way to make it very interesting, and has even added graphs and pictures to illustrate his ideas. He talks about his own Dad's ideas, along with his friend's dad's ideas. While Kiyosaki does values school, he feels that it is necessary to know more about finance then school can teach you. This is the book to start reading to gain some of that knowledge. My accounting teachers love the book, and I think it is a must-read for business majors.

10 business tips

As I was browsing some internet columns to look for blog topics, I came across something that I actually thought was kind of interesting. It was a yahoo.com piece that gave 10 tips for someone who wants to be successful in business, as far as communication and behavior skills. I am in a business behavior class now, and it is very helpful to know tips about how to act in the workplace.
The two tips that I thought were the most important were numbers 2 and 8. Number 2 talks strictly about the dialogue that should go on two people in a business like manner. Two should establish common gorund and feed off that, as it is very pleasant. It is also interesting for both, and it most likely can not lead to argument. This will keep things appropriate during a meeting. The other tip is to avoid political talks. THe article clearly recognizes that nobody has the exact same political beliefs, so why venture itno grounds that can lead to an uncomfortable setting. Steering clear of politics will enable the conversation to stay professional in that the parties can maintain good composure. These are just two good tips for havinf a proper business conversation, and if you want to see more, you can visit http://finance.yahoo.com/expert/article/yourlife/29225

va tech

Everyone knows by now the incident at Virginia Tech that cost mamy lives. I gunman shot and killed 30+ students and injured many more. This is the biggest school schooting tragedy as I was reading on espn.com. This makes me sick and I feel very bad for that school and the victims. The one thing that bothered me is how the school handled the incident. They emailed the students after the initial 7 a.m. shooting. Emailed?! Probably not 10% of the school is at their computers at that time moreover checking their emails. The shooter then proceeded to the other side of the campus to an engineering classroom to kill more. The school should have sent out some type of emergency team or called the classrooms phones or went through an intercom or something! That, to me, is ridiculous, and I feel the school should have handled it better. This should spark the idea into school's heads to get some type of system mandated in case of an emergency like this one. This could be a project for students now that will soon be alumni that know how it feels to have this happen. I think the current ploicies should change as far as sending out emails. I think that is ridiculous.

Bus91L class

At our University, a Microsoft Lab is offered and in some cases required. This Lab class is worth 1 unit, and it goes on for about 1 month of the semester. While it lasts the normal class length of one hour and fifteen minutes, it seems shorter because I think it is very interesting and fun at times. This class teaches you the basics of Powerpoint and Word, and goes in detail of Excel. These are very important programs that business majors need to know, and that is why the class is required for business management and accounting majors, and other majors in business. I think it is extremely essential for all of us in business, and I encrourage all of you to take this class. It teaches great skills in Excel like VLOOKUP where one can create tables and graphs that make it so, so easy to compare data. Businesses use this program a lot, and it is good to know it well. Businesses also use Powerpoint to present to the company, and this class goes into much detail about Powerpoint. We all know a good amount about Microsoft Word, however, this course will teach you just a little bit more than the average student would know about Word. I just recently passed the class ith 100.2%, as extra credit is usually offered. I have learned so much in that class, and now I feel like I can go into a company and have Excel and the other programs down to a science. I feel very confident when using Excel, and would be very qualified to complete tasks in Excel to show trends, and other types of recorded data that a company might be interested in. So I encourage all to take the class.

JOb Fair

Hello,

I wanted to speak a little bit on the Job Fair. For those of you who do not know, I was told that the Job Fair at school is on Wednesday, March 7. I am assuming it will start around 10 or 11 a.m., and go until around 3 p.m. or so. I have heard that while it is a fun experience, it is a very serious event. I was even thinking of wearing some sort of shirt and tie or something nice, as I have heard they set up interviews if need be. I think this is a great opportunity for us, because companies are actually knocking at our door, so there is no excuse to not check it out. It is probably right around the business tower where there is a lot of space. I am definitely going, and if you see this blog, then I think you should go too. It is a great opportunity to get an internship, leading up to a good job involving what your major entails. I know someone who has gotten an interview that day of the event, so make sure you dress nice. That is all, hope all of you go.

Las Vegas and WEbCT

This weekend, a classmate, Clayton, and I went with a few others to las VEgas for our 21st birthdays. First off it was extremely fun and it was a great feeling to finally be 21. We all brought homework on the trip, os we knew that we would have to take a little bit of time during one of the days and do homework for a few hours. Clayton had to submit this first blog revision by Thursday night, yet he was in Vegas. The point of my blog is that WEBCT is genius. We are 100s of miles away, yet we can still turn in our homework that is due. I had an essay due Monday, and I will wait to submit it on Monay, but it would definitely feel good to turn it in quicker over WEBCT. So my point is that WEBCT is a great invention for submitting homework, and I think that more teachers should use it. I would not be surprised if in 2 years, every teacher would be using it. It is a great tool for college universities. WEBCT is the future of homework and I am excited to be part of it.
